Bisate Lodge

Bisate Lodge is an up-market/luxury establishment set along the hillside, Northern Ruhengeri just opposite Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda’s premier gorilla trekking destination. It is perched suitably on the natural Amphitheatre of eroded volcanic cone offering tourists exceptional panoramic views over the rural hills and afro-alpine forests of Volcanoes National Park.

Bisate Lodge is 20 minutes’ drive from Kinigi Town and it is an ideal place to have overnight stay on luxury gorilla trekking safari in Volcanoes National Park. It consists of 6 villas all dotted and they feature a unique design of a true African culture. Each of the villas comes with comfortable bedroom, bathroom, reception and central fireplace, private deck overviewing the magnificent Mt. Bisoke.

Other amenities/facilities and services that make up this 6-villa lodge include a fully stocked bar, flushing toilet, restaurant, laundry services, ample parking, hot running water showers, dining room and different woven materials, art crafts and a lot more modern touch. The rooms at Bisate Lodge come with veranda for relaxing after your long day gorilla trekking adventure. The rooms are available in various categories ranging from single, double, twins to triple.

Bisate Lodge is Wilderness Camps’ latest lodging. It is located in the heart of the forest, boasting views of three prominent volcanoes named Bisoke, Karisimbi and Mikeno. The property offers quick access to the Volcanoes National Park and its park headquarters for gorilla trekking and other activities. This lodge is a great choice for those looking for high-end accommodation in a remarkable location.

Bisate is close to the town of Kinigi, where the park headquarters are situated, providing an excellent base for visits into the park and gorilla trekking. The lodge is made of a communal dining/lounge area and six stand-alone domes for luxury and unique accommodation.

The six forest villas at Bisate are truly memorable. Inspired by the architecture of the ancient royal palace of the Rwanda monarchy, the suites at Bisate are dome-shaped and covered in thatch and bamboo thickets. Although its exterior is traditionally ‘Rwandan’, its interior contrasts with fresh and modern decor, including bold tones of grey and green to reflect its location in the heart of the mountains.

The main activity at Bisate is trekking with one of the ten habituated gorilla groups of the Volcano National Park. The lodge offers a range of walks around the property, particularly good for those interested in birding and the current reforestation program. Visits to the lava tunnels of the Musanze Caves and the Iby’Iwacu cultural village are also offered, as well as seeing the endemic golden monkey.
